As we enter Nurses Month this May, it's important to take a moment to recognize the incredible impact that nurses have on our world. As a registered nurse of more than 30 years, I have witnessed firsthand the countless ways in which nurses make a difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities.

This month, we at Nurses Feed Their Young want to celebrate and highlight 10+ ways that nurses impact the world every single day.

  1. Nurses provide compassionate care for terminally ill patients and their families, helping them navigate one of life's most challenging experiences.

  2. Nurses take to the skies in helicopter and airplane transports, providing urgent care to injured patients and ensuring they receive the highest level of treatment.

  3. Nurses bring quality nursing care to prison and jail populations, serving with a non-judgmental approach.

  4. Nurses deliver new life into the world, working as midwives and labor and delivery nurses to support families during this special time.

  5. Nurses serve their country by working in the Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Navy, and Space Force, providing care to our military personnel.

  6. Nurses plan and present community health screenings, reaching out to communities to promote health and well-being.

  7. Nurses help break the cycle of substance abuse and addiction, offering compassionate and non-judgmental care to those in need.

  8. Nurses provide care and treatment without judgment, serving all patients regardless of their beliefs or background.

  9. Nurses teach and support those with chronic conditions like diabetes, helping them achieve a better quality of life.

  10. Nurses are willing to serve patients in need, regardless of the threat to their own safety, as demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  11. Nurses work on holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's to ensure that care is always available for patients and their loved ones.

  12. Nurses give up time with their own families to work extra shifts, ensuring that facilities are adequately staffed to provide necessary care.

  13. Nurses continue to serve even when conditions are not perfect, working through shortages of personal protective equipment, workplace violence, and understaffing.

At Nurses Feed Their Young, we recognize the incredible sacrifices and contributions that nurses make every day. That's why, for Nurses Month 2024, we are excited to launch our first-ever Nurses Feed Their Young Educational Buffet, offering 30 complimentary nursing continuing education credit courses to nurses in the United States and around the world. We want to support nurses by providing them with opportunities to increase their knowledge base and feel appreciated for all that they do.
